Chapter 32

32. A1

THE BUDDHA STARTS HIS TEACHING BY STARTING THAT, ‘IGNORANCE IS THE CAUSE OF SUFFERING*(01)’.

(THE 1ST AND 2ND NOBLE TRUTHS)

*(01). SUFFERING IN FACT MEANS INSTABILITY OR IMPERMANENCY AND THE EVER CONSTANT POSSIBILITY OF INTRACTABLE SUFFERING;

WHICH ULTIMATELY MANIFESTS ITSELF IN THE ‘FRIGHTENING REALITY OF

DEVOLUTION’. (THE BUDDHA COULD HAVE PIERCED TOGETHER THIS

KNOWLEDGE FROM PERMANENT MENTAL MEMORY.  IT IS UNLIKELY THAT

THIS WOULD HAVE BEEN POSSIBLE WITHOUT THE HIGHER BEINGS’ GUIDANCE.)

(BY CREMATING THE HUMAN BODY AT DEATH ONE ATTEMPTS TO CONVEY IT’S

(THE BODY’S) IN SIGNIFICANCE IN THE TRUE NATURE OF THINGS; LIKE

DISCARDED CLOTHING. HENCE TO GATHER ‘RELICS’ BY PARTIAL CREMATION IS QUITE CONTRAY TO THE TEACHING OF REALITY. AND THEIR WORSHIP MAKES IT DOUBLY INCONGRUOUS*(01).

*(01). IN JUSTIFYING TO RETAIN AHUMAN’S MORTAL REMAINING, ONE FRONTS AN ATTEMPT TO RECALL THE CHARACTER OF ITS OWNER. BUT THIS DOES

NOT, EXCEPT RARELY, OCCUR. WHAT USUALLY OCCURS IS ADORATION OR

EVEN RITUALISTIC ADULATION, WHICH MAY BE AN ANTIPATHY OF THE VERY

CHARACTER ONE IS ATTEMPTING TO RECALL AND, MISGUIDED ZEAL MAY

END IN CHAOS. (THE BUDDHA’S ‘TOOTH RELIC’, IN SRI LANKA, IS AN APT

EXAMPLE)
